Who wants to live forever? Great song. Thanks, Freddie. Do you want to? If I could, I would. Some say only death gives life meaning. Cope. But immortality is not on the menu, so let's talk about what is. A whole industry now believes in longevity — people doing everything to age slower than technology advances, hoping to outrun the clock. Another escape velocity situation.
The provocative take: longevity does not exist. None of the proclaimed miracles extends your lifespan. None. You can live healthier and dodge an early exit, but you are not reaching 120, 150, 200. Not happening. Your cells' copying machinery decays; the telomeres shorten; the errors pile up until the whole system fails. No supplement, no injection, no ice bath stops it. The bet the longevity crowd is making: stay healthy long enough for medicine to catch up. Fair enough. While we wait, only one thing is in our hands. The healthy part. Think of it as capital. Health is the first sleeve of your portfolio — the one every other sleeve depends on. Money you can replace. The decade you spent earning it, never. So invest. In levels.
Level one: the foundations. Everybody knows them; most people skip them. Sleep eight hours. Eat a balanced diet — vegetables, legumes, lean meat, fish, not factory sludge. Move every day, train a few times a week. That is the whole level. If it is not yet you, start here. Nothing else matters until it is.
Level two: precision. Same bedtime every night, weekends included; same waking hour, until the alarm clock is decoration. Get the macros right — protein high, carbs modest, fats good, fibre plenty. Formulas exist for your age, weight and activity. Exercise daily: walking, stairs, sports, weights. Whatever works. Your choice, your body.
Level three: numbers. Wear the ring or the watch. Check your sleep weekly and adjust. Log your food for three months — calories in, calories out — and prepare to be surprised. Track the training stimulus: High cardio, weight sessions, alternate long & easy sessions vs short high intensive ones. Add balance work, explosive movements. Hybrid athlete style. Semi-pro level.
Will real longevity arrive? I hope so. In your lifetime? Nobody knows. But run the levels and you collect the payoff either way: more energy today, more good years ahead, and the best odds of still being alive when the breakthrough comes. This is the best risk-reward investment there is — limited downside, orbit level upside, bye bye gravity. It compounds exactly like capital: invisible for years, then in your face. The fifty-year-old who trains is buying the ninety-year-old who hikes.
Remember: Escape velocity means your capital provides for your life. But you need a life left worth paying for! A portfolio can't compound for someone buried in the ground. Freedom of time is worthless without the fit body to spend it. Health + wealth = heavenly match! That is the way of operations. Live long and prosper. Peace out!
