A child tells you the moon is a hole where the light gets in. You didn't see it coming. Nobody did. Children run on unbounded imagination, and it takes twists and turns nobody can predict. Then we grow up and lose it. Creativity buried under layers of responsibility, day job, to-do list, worries. The only unlimited thing left is the list of tasks.
That is a rut, and the day job digs it for you. Same things, day in, day out. Nothing new gets in. It is drudgery. It is claustrophobic. A part of you dies in there, without anybody noticing. Least of all you.
So go back. Reclaim the childhood wonder. Ask the questions a seven-year-old asks without flinching. Who am I? What do I want to do with my time? In a world where everything is possible, who do I want to be? Then let the answers be silly. Silly is the raw material. The sensible version arrives later, and it always arrives smaller.
Science fiction is the best catalyst there is. What if. Run the scenario, push it to the absurd, watch the consequences fall out. A Gedankenexperiment. And the daft ideas have a habit of turning up later, wearing a suit and calling themselves normal. What is mundane today looked like magic twenty years ago. Impossible ten years before that. I am not a science fiction writer, you are thinking. Erase that. You don't have to be one. Unshackle. How do you expect to grow if you never let anything new through the door? Become an idea machine instead. Dream big, dream often, dream, dream, dream.
Because dreaming builds receptors. Open slots a new idea can dock into. Clog them with omega-6 sludge and the good stuff cannot bind. You are stuck with subpar seed oils and you call it a diet. Same wiring, same problem. You never see a groundbreaking invention if nothing in you was ever tuned to that frequency. Tune in and you receive. Free your mind, dream new ideas, build the receptors, tune the sensors, see the new. That is the chain. It is trained, not inherited.
Here is what it pays. A multi-bagger is, by definition, misunderstood by the crowd. A minority sees it. A handful acts. The rest arrive too late. You don't have to be first. You have to frontrun the majority, and probably the early adopters too. That is the entry point. Seed the position, small, then scale as the thesis proves itself and the herd piles in. But you only seed it if you saw it, and you only see it if the receptors were open and the homework was done. Otherwise the opportunity walks straight past you and you never feel the draught.
So be a child again. Have silly thoughts. Associate wildly. Play. Out loud. It is fun, which is reason enough. And out of that stream one idea turns out to be useful, and one turns out to change your life. Dream on.
